My most recent vacation that I went on was to South Dakota. This was a family vacation, so my mom (Donna), dad (Dean), brother (Dawson), brothers girlfriend (Maddie), and then my sister (Kennedy) met up with us on the last day. It was such a fun and adventurous vacation, probably one of my favorites so far. We did a wide variety of activities including, hiking, going to a concert, and shopping.

Day 1:

South Dakota day one started out with driving from Spooner, WI all the way to South Dakota. My family made the decision to drive so that we could make stops along the way. On our drive to the hotel, we stopped at Wall Drug, The Corn Palace, Crazy Horse, Mount Rushmore, and the Badlands. It was a busy day! And remember, if you go to Wall Drug, take a picture with the famous dinosaur. My favorite part was definitely going to The Black Hills and seeing all of the animals. It is a great stop along the way to get out and stretch your legs as well!

Day 2:

Day two was a more relaxed day. We went shopping on the main stretch in Deadwood and visited the historical spots downtown. Afterwards, we drove to Sturgis and got to see where the Motorcycle Rally takes place. To finish off our day we went out to eat and went to the live street music.

Day 3:

Day three was definitely one of the best. We started out the day doing one of my favorite things…shopping! We stopped to shop on our way from Deadwood to Sioux Falls. We then went to our hotel, got ready, and went to a Luke Combs concert. While a Luke Combs concert might not be readily available to you if you go, there are always concerts going on.

Day 4:

Day four was pretty boring, we headed back home after getting breakfast. The day was just full of driving and sleeping.

  3. I have been to South Dakota as well. We stopped at pretty much all those places and yes they are amazing. Pictures of Mount Rushmore don’t do it justice.

Hey Annika! I like the layout of your blog, as well as the “Plan 4 Me” page. I like the number of pictures you used to tell your story. I also really like how you listed the activities for each day as opposed to summarizing the entire trip in one section. I enjoyed reading your blog!

  9. This is very creative! I love the option to create my own trip and the layout for your blog. It’s very easy to navigate and the fact you made your own logo is very cool! I’ve been to South Dakota before, but I never got to see the dinosaur. I’ll definitely have to check it out the next time my family goes!

Our family also went to the Corn Palace. It was cool seeing the many pictures of how they decorate the palace differently each year. Deadwood was my families favorite town.
